Role Title: Games Master/Storyteller
Job Type: Contract Work, equivalent to part time hours
Pay: £20+ per hour (see Role Description)
Role Description:
The Storyteller, or Games Master, is responsible for running sessions of tabletop roleplaying games in an inclusive and welcoming environment. This includes setting the scene through narrative description, listening to the players as they describe their intentions, and performing quick and entertaining responses for the players.
Each session with your players will last between two and four hours, with as much preparation time beforehand as you feel you need. Pay is £20 per player per session, with a minimum of three players and a maximum of seven players per session. Given an average three hours per session and a minimum of three players, this is a minimum of £20 per hour of game time.
At the moment, all sessions are run using Discord Video Chat (VOIP). Face to face will be available only in safe environments under advisement from Master Tier Gaming; locations under quarantine, lockdown, or with a high risk to either the players or the storyteller will not be available for face to face sessions. VOIP will be used in all other cases, and as an ongoing option for those that prefer it.
Systems run for players are negotiable, with Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition being the most popular currently. Other systems that have been run include FATE, Ars Magica, Monster of the Week, Armageddon, Star Wars (Fantasy Flight), and beta tests of the upcoming Stargate (Wyvern Games) system.
Workplace:
Master Tier Gaming maintains a high standard of comfort among its players and storytellers, and in any real-world locations it utilises (when the plague passes), so it will be your responsiblity to maintain an atmosphere of understanding, opportunity, and inclusivity.
The role is a self-employment contract, and as such you will be working alongside and not beneath anyone else in the company. Your voice will be equal to your peers and great efforts are made to ensure everyone is welcome.
The procurement of players for your games will be handled by Master Tier Gaming. The job role is simply to run the sessions reliably and to a high standard. Full training and ongoing support will be provided.
Requirements:
An ability to communicate, and engage, with small groups of people in a live environment
Ability to commit to a regular slot (fortnightly)
Ability to think quickly and respond to unexpected scenarios in games
